The time of day

presunset The time of day of showers when the sun shines white light making the colours glow shadowless and perfect. Feeling better after 48 hours of feeling like shit. Having slept nearly 40 of those 48 hours is the only thing I can manage to do. Now I am feeling like I did when I was 10 and spent so long in the swimming pool - I feel clean and exhausted. Tomorrow I will go to work. I had the good fortune to convince Chris to have a late (cos i was late) lunch with me today. I hope getting him out of the office, even if it was for a foodcourt-curry, helped break his day up. I completely understand his frustrations, having a) lived them myself and b) live them still. It still perplexes me as to the type of person who has jumped on the multimedia/elearning band wagon over the years, and how they manage to keep themselves above water, albeit only just. After so much sleep, i have little to say and I will spare you the weird dreams.

*makes a list of the

*makes a list of the things I thought of saying so i don't forget*
  • going to the airport - organised to meet Marshall at the airport. Many countries you couldn't do that because of the size of most airport complexes, but in NZ its really not so difficult, esp. with cellphones.. and if all else fails, everyone goes thru the same departure gate anyways.. but I managed to get the packet of documents to him prebooking in so he could pack them and not be lumbered with more carry-on stuff. I wished him luck and his family a good trip. I sure do hope they come back - there's no reason to think they won't but still, thats the thought I had. I bit my tongue and didn't say "you *are* coming back again, aren't you?" cos I can pretend to be grown up sometimes.
  • the kid on the chair - things that seem like a great idea at the time. Two boys, one bike, one office chair - a smooth road with a slight decline [incline - whatever]. I'm not sure how loud they were whooping but man they were having fun right up until the rope broke.
  • thinking about people leaving the country - sort of attached to the first thought. Seeing those fat bellied planes slow motioning their way out of the sky and onto the runways.. okay run WAY (its a small international airport) and knowing that wonderful feeling of leaving, of the excitement and the organisation.. and the other feeling, sometimes wonderful, of coming home and of arriving. I've spent a lot more time going to and from the airport delivering people and packages than I have actually leaving or arriving myself, and I always feel a bit sad when leaving the airport, even to the point of tears filling my eyes. Sometimes I have the excuse that someone I love is leaving. sometimes, I don't have that luxury and keep the fact I just dropped off a package to myself.
  • I'm going to see X2 again in a moment. this time with a gaggle of boys in tow - they've all seen it before too but it kicks ass (as mentioned previously) and we want to see it again. We're gonna have dinner at Burger King (their choice) and play in the arcade afterwards. this evening started off as a conversation about having chicken for dinner and ended up as David's birthday party. first though, I've had an afternoon snack of spiced toasted muffins and a cup of tea, Burger King's not my favourite food, so I'll just sing along to the 50s music and have a cup of coffee instead.
  • I was going to mention the price of tampons, but the spiced muffins have quietened my rant so you'll have to wait 28 days for the next one.

Shin Splints are the most

Shin Splints are the most accurately named thing in the Universe - except for, maybe, oranges. Anyway. The pain was so much last night I had to phone Greg to come and pick me up because I just couldn't walk any further. He took me back to his house, and he told me something I'd never noticed before, my lower leg was swollen, drum tight to the touch. Normally I would just prop my stupid leg up and the pain would go away but last night it seemed to take hours. Putting ice on my leg sort-of helped but it hurt as well, the cold aching into the muscles but the drumtightness subsided after a while. I woke this morning and my leg still aches. I thought I had good running shoes but I spose I need some sort of arch support or orthopedic something or other as well.
I decided to come into work. Marshall had asked me to print something for him yesterday and due to printer hogage and file misplacement, I couldn't fully do what he wanted. After spending a night tossing and turning dreaming about having a sore leg and disappointing Marshall, I got up this morning, phoned Rosie and then went to her place to collect the Black Key I would need to get into the office. Rosie is selling her house and having an Open Day today, so it probably worked out nicely that we ended up spending a couple of hours eating and mooching our way around Brown's Bay shops. She took me to a couple of nice little places, some had food, some had nice furniture. We bought a ring each. A La Beverly rings, all sparkles and colour. *thinks about taking a picture of my new ring*magpies unite
Where was I.. Oh yeh. So I discussed, for the 24th time with rosie today, how I felt the angst around not doing a good job for marshall and needing to go into work and do a better job and ambush him at the airport, if possible or post the new documents to him in the States even if he ends up thinking I'm a complete maniac. She understands, thank goodness. So we went to Whitcoulls and I bought some bright white laser printing paper and some okay covers and a nice document case after we drank coffee and giggled at the man dressed as a kangaroo and then I came in here, to work. (my blog entries are scrambled, writing in w.bloggar feels strange) See, now, the thing I was *going* to tell you I should have told you first *doh* Graham's last day yesterday, and we had a few drinks here at work, and then a beer at the Provedor. He was "battered" he kept saying. I'm going to miss working with him. I was thinking of all the things I like about Graham, and I've decided the thing I like BEST about Graham, is his face: apart from the fact it's bloody nice to look at; it's so open and honest, and has a look of open adoration when he's looking at his partner, Ruth. You're right, Graham, this isn't the end, we'll keep in touch. I wish you all the very best and thankyou so much for your patience and your advice.
